Prescot Cables Newsletter September 2018

On the pitch
We are just over a month into the new season now and the team is starting to put results together in the league with us currently sitting in 3rd place. Unfortunately, we exited the FA Cup at the first stage, something we have done for a number of seasons now, whilst this is disappointing, the teams form since then has been impressive and we hope for another exciting season in the league.

We also have 3 cup competitions to play for with the Integro League Cup, FA Trophy and Liverpool Senior Cup, can we make it a hat trick of senior cup wins this year?

Prescot Cables Supporters On The Pitch Campaign 2018-2019
Well we did it. We should all pat ourselves on the back! Once again, we have received a fantastic response to our need to raise funds for the improvement to our playing surface. As in previous years we asked, and the Cables supporters answered. The pitch was split into 111 individual squares with the majority being claimed and paid for before the new season started, raising a total of £2220.00p. A number of local businesses were keen to be involved and we are grateful for their continued support. An interesting donation was received by a U.S. sports journalist named Prescott Rossi who sponsored a square in the name of the “Slack Boys” most probably completely unaware of the significance of Slacky Brow (although you never know).

It was also very telling to note that a number of people chose to use the opportunity to pay respects to or to honour friends or family that had passed away or were taken too early. That shows what Cables means to our Community. It is held in such high regard that supporters and locals would use this as a platform for something so personal.

This year, more than any due to the severely hot weather, the money was essential in paying for the pitch maintenance. Quite simply without that money – the work and investment would not be possible. So Thanks!! Now we will have the pitch map printed and it will then be framed and proudly hung in the club corridor, in honour of our generous donators, alongside previous campaigns.

Coach Tickets
Prescot Cables Supporters Club provides a coach to transport the players to the majority of Away fixtures. This enable players to arrive for matches in the best possible frame of mind. The cost of the coach is funded by the sale of monthly lottery tickets. This also enables the remaining seats to be offered to travelling supporters at a subsidised cost of £10 return (Adults) and £5 return (Juniors). Obviously, travellers will still need to pay their entrance upon arrival at the ground.

The concept of tickets was devised in order to provide some certainty to travellers that they would be allocated a seat. Previous to that seats were allocated on a first come first served basis on the day of travel. The use of tickets has allowed Supporters to better plan their days out. However, if you have not managed to buy a ticket prior to the day it may still be worthwhile attending at the departure point as the seats are not sold out on every occasion. The coach leaves from the top of Hope Street at a previously advertised time. If you have never tried it – give it a go. It’s quite a thing to travel with the team and to experience the fun and frivolities on the way back when we win.

Tickets are on sale at the clubhouse. Ask a committee member. If you cannot purchase a ticket at a Home match then you can do so by contacting Geoff Conway ([email protected] 07903217231). Payment can be made by PayM (a great way to make small payments – see your online bank for details) or by bank transfer. Alongside the traditional ticket we have recently started to utilise E-Tickets which are emailed or sent by txt to your phone upon payment. You can even plan way ahead and purchase tickets for much later in the season, so you can start to plan that special day out NOW! Don’t delay.
