Directors’ New Year Message

As the calendar year comes to an end, we would like to reflect on some of the standout elements of 2018 and also the sad times that the club has had to go through.

Our league position is looking very positive as we close out the year and continue to fight for a play-off place. We have a really strong playing squad and management team who are doing everything they can to try and secure that place.

The club is also aiming to try and retain the Senior Cup. We will play our Quarter Final towards the end of January against Lower Breck who are looking a strong side at the moment.

As we look back, some of our matches have attracted really substantial attendances this year and we must say a huge ‘thank you’ to our fans for all of the support you are showing. We currently have the highest average attendance in the Division (383) which is amazing news for the club. We were also proud to stage the FA Women’s Cup Quarter Final between Liverpool and Chelsea.

Unfortunately, we have also had some sad times at the club during the year. We have lost some amazing people from the Cables family. We should take a moment to remember those who have passed away and how much they meant us all at the club. We are sure they will all be looking down at us and be proud of what the club has achieved so far this season.

Those we have lost include:

David Fry
Andy Maund
Jack Riding
Dave Harding
Don Steele

Our thoughts are with their families and friends at this difficult time.

As we look ahead to 2019, there are so many positive things happening at the club. We have finally secured a 99 year lease on the ground which means the club can now cement its place within the town. Such security of tenure also opens up funding opportunities to assist the club in developing Volair Park.

As we close this message, we would like to wish everyone all the best for the New Year and say ‘thank you’ to everyone from the bottom of our hearts for your support and help as we look to build this amazing club.
