Match Preview: Cables v City of Liverpool

Prescot Cables will look to end almost three weeks without a match tomorrow when City of Liverpool make the short journey to the IP Truck Parts Stadium for a BetVictor Northern Premier League North / West Division match.

Recent History

City of Liverpool took the points in the first-ever League meeting between the clubs on 4th Journey, their 3-0 victory at Bootle ensuring they retain the upper hand in recent meetings between the sides. One statistic that is in Prescot’s favour is that they are unbeaten at home against the region’s newest club. Prescot hosted the Purps twice in the summer of 2017, winning 3-0 in the semi-final of the Dennis Bellairs Cup, then staging a pulsating FA Cup tie which ended 2-2 in front of almost 1,000 spectators.

The Form Guide

City of Liverpool have lost three of their last six matches, including a defeat at Dunston on Tuesday evening, but had won their two games immediately before that long midweek trip.

For their part, Cables will aim to go into this derby with a stronger squad than has been available for recent matches. Returning wide men MJ Monaghan and Jordan Southworth will add skill and depth to the group, while it is hoped that the weather-enforced break will have helped other members of the squad to recover from injury.

Admission on the turnstiles is just £8.00 for adults, £5.00 for concessions and £1.00 for children under the age of 16. Kick off is 3:00pm and the turnstiles and clubhouse will be open from approximately 1:30pm, with a wide range of beverages available, including local Real Ales from the Melwood Beer Company and a selection of bitters, lagers, ciders, spirits and soft drinks. Hot food will also be available.
