For this evening’s look into the club’s past, Glyn Williams profiles legendary defender Albert Jelly.

The club captain during Cables’ ‘golden era of the late 1940s and early 1950s, Jelly lifted the Liverpool Senior Non-League Cup twice, having made his home in Lancashire after growing up in Surrey.

He played almost 400 First Team matches for Cables and was noted for more than just his defensive prowess.
