Monaghan Signs Contract With Cables

The wait is finally over and we can now announce the news.

The club is delighted to announce that Michael Monaghan has signed a contract to stay at Cables for the up coming season.

This is fantastic news for the club and shows we are still heading in the right direction. The last contract player that Cables signed was Rob Doran which was about 4 years ago, which means the club are in a strong position to keep moving forward.

The deal was agreed by the board during the period before our new management team was put in place and we were just awaiting confirmation from the FA. As a club we are pleased to say that we have managed to maintain the same budget as last season and would also like to add that MJ’s signing comes within this budget for the new season.

The Co-Charimen met with MJ to discuss his future at Cables. It was clear that we needed to secure the future of MJ as he is a huge asset to the club and also a fans favourite.

We were open and honest with the new management team on MJ’s contract when they joined and they welcomed this with open arms.

Speaking to Craig Davies about the signing he added:

” As a Management Team we are over the moon to of kept MJ at Cables and know there was interest from higher up clubs. To us this clearly shows MJ’s character both on and off the field with him wanting to see what management team came in before he seriously looked at his other offers. With MJ and the rest of the lads that we have retained, we are really hopeful that we can now push on for next season.

About his signing MJ added the following comments:

I’m delighted to have signed a contract at Cables, I spoke to the Co-Chairmen early on and told them how much I enjoy being here and I didn’t want to leave. As long as the fans want me here and the manager wants me here, I don’t see any reason for me to play elsewhere.
There is a good feel about the club at the minute, the new manager has came in and brought fresh ideas, we are all on the same page from chairman, to staff, to players. We strongly believe that we have a squad capable of challenging next season.
I’ve moved about a lot during my career at non league, but I look at the lads in the squad like Kirk, Lloyd and Edgar and that’s the type of commitment I want to give back to the club.

We would like to thank MJ for his commitment to the club and are looking forward to him playing a big part along with the rest of the lads, as we push on for next season.

I’m sure you will all welcome this amazing news just in time for our Pre-Season game vs Radcliffe.
