Following on from meeting with the management team today, they have confirmed that they, and the players, would like to use the pause in the season as an opportunity to play some friendlies and more importantly ensuring that our fans will be able to return to the IP Truck Parts stadium to watch live football.
The club spoke to the environmental health department at Knowsley council on Friday afternoon following the communication from the league, regarding our intention to hold games within the current attendance limit of 400 that is set for step 4 clubs based in Tier 2 of national restrictions. We have invited environmental health to visit the ground if they so require to inspect how we will maintain social distancing regulations and have also provided them with the latest copy of the clubs Covid-19 risk assessment.
As was alluded to in the statement put out by the club, we fully expected to put a programme of friendly fixtures on to ensure our fans could watch live football, whilst also being supportive of the league as a whole knowing the vast majority of votes would be for a pause in the season. We however felt it was right to discuss this with the full management team before communicating this out on a wider basis. We hope to have a home friendly on each Saturday whilst the pause is in place starting with Saturday 12th December.
If the pause carries on into the Christmas period, there will be no games on either Boxing Day or New Years Day to allow, staff, volunteers and players an opportunity to spend time with their respective families, especially in light of the difficult year 2020 has been for so many.
We will also be speaking to the licensing department regarding whether the function room can be opened in any capacity to serve fans during games.
The pricing for friendlies will be £5 entry, all season ticket holders will be given complimentary entry to all home friendly games during this period. Ticket sales will be online initially, any not sold by the Friday night before a game will be made available for cash sales on the Saturday morning. This is to try and cut down as much as possible on large queues around the local residential area.
Please be assured there has been a method to all decisions made and we hope to see you watching the lads a week today!
