After last Saturday’s disappointing result, Cables manager Craig Davies remains upbeat. “Fair play to Colne, they where the better side in a game which was still fairly tight in clear cut chances. It was a bad day at the office and something we have used this week as motivation to put it right against Runcorn. We trained really well on Tuesday. Showed great intensity and worked on the aspects of the game that we didn’t do enough of against Colne.”
One thing the gaffer is really looking forward to is having the fans back in the ground. “I think it’s the perfect game now Boxing Day. Sell out crowd, right behind us at home for only the second time this season so it will be great having them pushing us on. Both teams lost last time out so I’m sure Runcorn will be ready to put that right.”
It’s shaping up to be a Boxing Day cracker in front of a sell-out crowd.
We have signed Jake Hulley on a dual registration from Cammel Lairds, Joe Conley (former Burnley midfielder) and Wade Maxwell (former Liverpool and Barnsley midfielder) to bolster the squad.
Patrick Staunton misses out through injury but Josh Klein-Davies is back in contention after stepping up his rehab. James Edgar has one more game of his suspension remaining and Rodrigo Schmidtdinger has served one game of his 3 match ban.
