Modern Greats: Chris Almond

In the first of an occasional series of indefinite length, the club is pleased to present a profile of the most efficient goalscorer to have played for Prescot Cables in the 21st Century to date; Chris Almond.

During the first National Lockdown last Spring, we republished the Cables Greats series of player profiles written by Glyn Williams. With the majority of the country now staying at home, we wanted to run articles that complimented the 20 articles Glyn put together and perhaps trigger some happy memories during a period when we’re unable to stage matches.

Where better to start than with a player who won the ‘Golden Boot’ while in the Amber and Black?

You can read all about Chris Almond’s time with Cables by clicking here.

We’re looking for contributions to this series, and especially interested in supporters’ recollections of players like Eddie Taylor, Kevin Garforth, Mick O’Donnell and many others. Perhaps the mention of a ‘cult hero’ who maybe didn’t play that often, but is fondly remembered, raises a smile? Maybe you remember a youngster whose time with Prescot was brief, but they went on to big things?

Whoever you consider a Modern Great, we want to know about them. Click here to send us an email about your player(s) of choice.
