Prescot Cables Football Club would like to announce that, following discussions with the management team, the following players will not be retained for the forthcoming season:
- Ben Cartwright
- Patrick Staunton
- Baba Conteh
The club and manager would like to thank Ben, Patrick and Baba for their efforts at the club and we wish them all the best in the future.
In particular, the club would like to place on record its thanks to Baba Conteh for his contribution throughout his spell at the IP Truck Parts Stadium. Baba has been a firm favourite with Cables fans and will be remembered in club folklore as a key member of the team that won our second Liverpool Senior Cup title as well as reaching the play off final in 2018. Baba overcame injuries to represent the First Team on more than 50 occasions and scored five goals.
Also departing the club is MJ Monaghan. After discussing his future with the management team, MJ has decided to pursue a new challenge next season.
Manager Craig Davies said of MJ’s decision:
“As a management group, we had a chat with MJ about his contract situation and invited him back for pre-season on a non-contract basis. Following our conversation and having received several offers from other clubs, MJ has decided to explore those opportunities elsewhere.
“MJ has been great for the football club and leaves with our very best wishes. As well as being a great player for us, he’s a nice guy off the pitch too.
“The decision is not a personal one, there has been no falling out, It’s just football and an ‘on the pitch’ related decision to part ways. I wish him all the success in whatever venture he chooses next and can only thank him for his efforts during our time working together. He will always be welcome back at the IP Truck Parts Stadium”.
On future additions to the squad for the coming season, Davies added: “We are working really hard with the club in the background to add some quality players to the squad. We are confident that these additions will excite supporters and push us in the direction that we want to go. We cannot wait to share the news with the fans over the coming weeks. Pre-season cannot come soon enough, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone back in the ground and share our excitement for the coming season. Up the Pesky Bulls!”
