Prescot Cables Football Club is delighted to announce that full back Daniel Barker has been added to the First Team squad after a series of impressive performances for the club’s Under-18 team.
Providing opportunities for talented, young, local players is a cornerstone of the club’s development plan and it is particularly pleasing to see ‘one of our own’ sign Northern Premier League forms. Daniel is a familiar face around the IP Truck Parts Stadium and as well as supporting the Pesky Bulls home and away volunteered with the club’s Media Team.
Speaking about signing for the First Team, Daniel said: “I am honoured and really appreciate the opportunity to become a First Team player at the Cables. Having come through the Youth Team at a fantastic club with an incredible fan base, it’s great to be given the chance to progress and make the step up.”
When asked about his hopes for next season, the young right back commented: “My hopes for the season are to grow as a player and to help the lads gain results on and off the pitch. I’m feeling a real sense of pride as I’ve gone from a young fan watching the lads play home and away to now being given this incredible opportunity of representing the First Team. It is a surreal feeling. I’m really looking forward to putting the Cables shirt on and doing the players, coaching staff and the incredible fans proud.”
First Team Manager Craig Davies was equally delighted to have signed the teenager: “Daniel is a really bright prospect and has excelled this season with the Youth Team. He has trained with and played for us this season and has shown real desire coupled with an enthusiasm you can’t coach. He’s combative, energetic and is technically excellent. He optimises everything great about this football club. He is yet another player that has come through the youth set up and we are delighted he wants to continue his pathway with the club.”
