Prescot Cables Football Club is pleased to announce that it has secured the services of Matty O’Brien for the forthcoming season.
Eagle-eyed supporters may have got an inkling about this development via an unauthorised source yesterday; it’s our pleasure to officially welcome Matty to the club today.
An attacking midfielder who can play in both central and wide roles, Matty has spent time in the youth systems of both Liverpool and Everton. More recently, the 18-year-old has been at the Steven Gerrard Academy, which is where he was spotted by manager Craig Davies.
Craig was delighted to have secured the youngster’s signature, observing that “Matty is another young, exciting talent that has a really bright future in the game. He has developed superbly well under the stewardship of the top-level coaches at the Steven Gerrard Academy. He’s lightning quick, loves to take people on and makes things happen. Again, he’s another young player who will excite our fans with his attributes. He has a good eye for goal as well as contributing with assists. Having fought off stiff competition, we are extremely happy that Matty has decided to take his next career steps at Cables.”
For his part, Matty O’Brien was equally pleased, stating: “I’ve joined the club because Prescot is a big club in the local area. It is a great step up for me in my career to test myself at this level of football. The manager has shown faith in my ability and I am grateful to be given an opportunity to break into senior football. I hope I can push on and develop my game as well as exciting fans with my pace and attacking qualities.”
