Cables ran out 3-2 winners in an enthralling cup tie at the IP Truckparts Stadium that could have easily gone either way. As it was, Josh Dobie’s 89th minute header was enough to see the home side into the next round of The Emirates FA Cup.

Cables opened the scoring on 18 minutes through James Coopers header. Captain for the day Cooper rose above everyone and flicked the ball in at the back post to give the hosts the lead.

Mackenzie O’Neill then doubled the home sides lead on 31 minutes when he tapped home Lewis Buckley’s Cross from the left.

The momentum of the tie changed when Danny Murphy was shown a straight red card 3 minutes later after being adjudged to have handled the ball on the line. The visitors duly converted the resulting penalty to set up an exciting second half.

Campion made their man advantage tell in as the second half as they enjoyed most of the possession and the chances. They made that advance count when Jason Carney chipped Mitch Allen from the left side of the area.

Just as we were heading for a replay, O’Neill broke again and forced the visiting defender into making a last ditch tackle, forcing a corner. From that corner Josh Dobie rose above everyone and headed into the top corner, sending Cables through to the next round.
